Grace United Methodist Church
Nomination for 2003
Preservation Achievement Award

100th Anniversary

This year is the 100th anniversary of the construction of Grace United Methodist Church. Many churches (e.g. Trinity United Methodist Church on McKinney Ave.) have been torn down because of their dwindling congregation, and thus deterioration of the church. This church has survived these 100 years because of its congregation and their open-door attitude and service towards the changing neighborhood, thus keeping the church vital. In addition, they have come together to organize a capital funds campaign to restore and renovate the building through grants and donations. We would like to nominate the Church, and thus, its congregation both past and present for the Preservation Achievement Award.
