Spend an afternoon on the farm with your church family. After a pizza lunch following services on October 14, we will gather at the Claxton Farm for fishing, tractor rides, horseback rides, and farm tour, plus volleyball, soccer, and kites, all ending with a hayride back to the s’mores pit! We'll leave for home at about 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 10:50 a.m., Grace UMC Dallas will be celebrating its 115th year of consecutive worship at the corner of Junius and Haskell Streets! The preacher for the day will be Rev. Dr. Ted Campbell, a professor at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology, and a leading authority on John Wesley and Methodist history, including in Texas. He is also deeply knowledgeable about Dallas history, so he is perfectly positioned to entertain and enlighten Grace in his sermon on Isaiah 51: 1-3, “Look Unto the Rock.”
The celebration will be immediately followed by a potluck – a tradition in the United Methodist Church of bringing one’s favorite dish (pot) and joining in with what others have brought with the lucky expectation of a great feast!
Grace UMC Dallas was recently selected by Sacred Places to receive a grant for shoring up the building to make it strong for the next 115 years of worship and service. Grace was chosen because it fits the focus of Sacred Places: churches that are at the intersection of heritage, faith, and community.
The celebration of Grace’s 115th year in ministry will continue for the entire month of September, beginning September 2nd with a message from Eric Markinson, Associate Pastor of Community Care, and concluding September 30th with a message from Sam Hodges, a Grace member, author, and United Methodist News journalist.
